International Observe the Moon Night - Outreach at Maiyur Village - September 19, 2026
We conducted an outreach event for International Observe the Moon Night on September 19, 2026, at Maiyur Village near Chengalpet.
We set up our telescope at a vacant plot in the village and invited children from the surrounding area to join us. Around 40 children of different age groups, along with about 20 adults, came by to observe the Moon and Venus through the telescope.
The excitement was infectious, especially when the children saw the crescent-shaped Venus and the craters on the Moon for the first time. We also demonstrated why Venus goes through phases and how the craters on the Moon were formed, giving everyone a chance to connect what they see through the telescope with the science behind it.
Our CAC Junior Astronomer badges were a huge hit among the kids ![]()
